A world-recognized pioneer in functional crystals, Professor Wu co-invented the nonlinear-optical crystals LBO, CBO and LCB. LBO is now the industry standard for high-power all-solid-state lasers and was listed by Laser & Photonics as one of the top -10 laser products of 1989. The work earns China’s 1992 National Invention Award (First Class). His group remains at the global forefront of UV nonlinear-optical materials.

Honours: “Outstanding PhD Contribution” (MOE), ACA CGCT Outstanding Achievement Award (2017).
