Committed to the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the economic and social growth of Tianjin and its surrounding areas, Tianjin University of Technology actively collaborates with enterprises to cultivate major and key scientific and technological projects. Since 2019, it has successively signed cooperation agreements with Huawei, the 18th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, the Zhangjiakou Municipal Government, the 8358th Research Institute of the Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation of China, Oxiranchem Group, State Power Investment Corporation Limited, China Resources Power Holdings Company Limited, Binhai Construction & Investment Group Co., Ltd., China Academy of Safety Science and Technology, Inspur Software Co., Ltd., and CCCC First Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., providing talents and intellectual support for Tianjin’s innovation-driven and scientific development, as well as the regional economic and social development.
In 2019, with the establishment of the Technology Transfer Center and the Institute of Advanced Technology, TUT became the only municipal university in Tianjin that was approved as a base for the transformation and transfer of scientific and technological achievements in colleges and universities. In 2020, it was approved as a pilot university in China for intellectual property rights. In 2021, it was designated as the only municipal pilot university in Tianjin for achievement transformation. In 2022, Tianjin Science and Technology Bureau approved the Comprehensive Pilot Project of Empowering Reform of Scientific and Technological Achievements of Tianjin University of Technology, creating the TUT Model of“ Empowering Reform + Valuation as Equity”. In 2023, it was approved by the Tianjin Intellectual Property Bureau for the“ Supply-side Patent Cultivation and Transformation Promotion Project”, becoming one of the first batch of intellectual property operation centers among the universities in Tianjin. As a governing unit, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intellectual Property Utilization Alliance was established. In 2024, it was approved for the construction project of the Tianjin Concept Verification Platform.
The university continuously enhances the capability of transforming scientific and technological achievements and actively establishes a “handshake channel” for in-depth cooperation with the government, enterprises, and science and technology parks. It has established the National Green Petrochemical Industry-Education Integration Community in collaboration with Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Bohai Vocational Technical College, and the Integrated Circuit Industry-Education Integration Body in partnership with Tianjin Xiqing Economic Development Zone. It also actively carries out cooperation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, continuously promotes the “Thousand Groups and Thousand Enterprises Integration and Innovation Plan”, and builds the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Robot Innovation Integration Body. In 2021, Tianjin University of Technology, as the main initiator, built the University Science and Technology Parks in Xiqing District, one of the first university science and technology parks in Tianjin. At the same time, it actively promotes the construction of the west wing of the Tiankai Park. With nine projects winning support from the“ West Wing Golden Seed Project”, TUT ranks first among municipal universities in terms of the number of approved projects for two consecutive years. By combining the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the promotion of the development of the local industrial chain, TUT fully accelerates the transformation of the latest achievements into real productive forces.
