On September 27th, TUT held a homecoming event for alumni graduated 40 years ago in 1983. Liu Dongzhi, Lian Jijian, Zhang Jidong and Ye Ning from the university administration attended the event. Representatives from concerned university departments, schools, and the alumni association, along with some retired faculty members, gathered with over 800 alumni from the class of 1983 to share their affection for their alma mater.

The head of the alumni association stated that the association would strive to maintain warm connections, provide caring services, and promote in-depth cooperation.


Representatives from the class of 1983 shared their learning and growth experiences at the university and their achievements after graduation, expressing pride in the alma mater’s vigorous development. Retired faculty representatives recounted the days of hard work shared by faculties and students four decades ago, expressing pride in the alumni’s accomplishments and contributions.

The release ceremony for the TUT Alumni Newsletter 2022 was also held during the meeting.

In his speech, Liu Dongzhi outlines the university’s recent developments and achievements, fully affirmed the accomplishments of the TUT Alumni Association over the past four years, and sincerely expresses his blessings and gratitude to the class of 1983 alumni. He states that alumni are TUT’s calling card, the carriers of its spirit, an important benchmark for measuring the quality of its education, and a source of strength for its high-quality development. The university places great importance on alumni relations. It strives to unite alumni’s affection and support for their alma mater, building a community bound by shared emotions and common goals. This approach fosters a collaborative environment for growth and pools resources for mutual success. He hopes the alumni will continue supporting the university’s development, uniting efforts to jointly write the TUT story.

University administrators gathered with Class of 1983 representatives to celebrate the 44th anniversary, marking the occasion with the wider alumni community.


Following poetry readings from alumni and musical pieces by the faculty choir, the ceremony concluded amid a warm and celebratory atmosphere.
After the main event, over 800 alumni were invited to participate in activities organized by their respective schools, including seminars, lectures, laboratory tours and campus tours. School leaders and faculty/student representatives warmly received them and introduced the latest developments within their schools. The alumni expressed immense pride in the rapid development of their alma mater. Current students and alumni interacted enthusiastically across the campus.

The School of Materials Science and Engineering engaged alumni in laboratory visits and a panel on academic excellence.

The School of Management arranged a tour of the Party History Corridor and student-alumni exchanges.

The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering hosted an alumni gathering to inspire current students.

The School of Integrated Circuit Science and Engineering invited alumni to share career experiences.

The School of Language and Culture held a homecoming symposium for the class of 1983.

The School of Computer Science and Engineering organized an alumni success sharing session.

Additionally, schools including the School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation also held career-planning sessions for alumni.
Though forty years have passed, their youthful spirit remains. All members of the TUT community will unite their efforts, seize opportunities, and jointly contribute to the cause of the alma mater and the construction of a high-level university of technology.
