The commendation & awards ceremony in honor of excellent students and advanced groups was held on December 24th, 2024. Liu Dongzhi, secretary of the university Party committee, and Lian Jijian, president of the university, together with other university leaders Xu Rui, Chen Shengyong, Ye Ning, Wang Tie and Su Ronghua attended the ceremony and presented awards to the honored students.
The year 2024 has witnessed TUT students' remarkable achievements in various fields including academics, technological innovation, competition and exhibition and social practice with 1,371 national awards, 1,079 provincial awards, and 11,707 university awards.
Themed on academic striving, adherence to fundamental principles while fostering innovation and all-round development, the awards ceremony highlighted the achievements of the past year and summarized the educational outcomes that fostered new talents of the era and contributed to the building of a strong nation. The leaders presented awards to the excellent students in the hope that they would play an exemplary and demonstrative role.
Cong Rong, member of the standing committee of the Party committee and head of the Party committee publicity department, presented awards to representatives of university scholarships and advanced groups winners.
Liu Xinmin, member of the standing committee of the Party committee and head of the Party committee organization department, presented awards to representatives of university May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branches and excellent Communist Youth League members.
Su Ronghua, member of the standing committee of the Party committee and vice president, presented awards to representatives of the "Mingli Scholarship" recipients.
Wang Tie, member of the standing committee of the Party committee and vice president, presented awards to the winners of the first "TUT Cup" competition.
Ye Ning, member of the standing committee of the Party committee and vice president, presented awards to representatives of winners of competitions related to sports, aesthetics and labor skills.
Chen Shengyong, member of the standing committee of the Party committee and vice president, presented awards to representatives of winners in the science and technology competitions.
Xu Rui, deputy secretary of the university Party committee, presented awards to representatives of Tianjin excellent students, Tianjin excellent student cadres, Tianjin advanced student groups, Tianjin excellent Communist Youth League members, and Tianjin May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branches.
Lian Jijian, deputy secretary of the university Party committee and President, presented awards to representatives of recipients of the Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship, the Tianjin Wang Kechang Scholarship, the Tianjin Haihe Self-Reliance Scholarship, the Tianjin Self-Confidentand Self-Relying Man of the Year, and the Tianjin University Student of the Year Nominee Award.
Liu Dongzhi, secretary of the university Party committee, presented awards to recipients of the National Scholarship, Advanced Model of National Red Cross Volunteer Service, and winners of the "I Do Practical Things for My Fellow Students" Outstanding Project and Most Popular Project awards from the National College Student Union.
Che Dashuang, a "Mingli Scholarship" recipient from the Technical College for the Deaf, shared his story of pursuing dreamsand dedications, calling on everyone to join in his pursuit of dreams and work diligently to realize them.
Wang Junyi, gold prize winning team leader of the "Challenge Cup" competition and a student from the College of Environmental Science and Safety Engineering, shared an inspiring story of how his team worked tirelessly to win the gold medal in the national competition. He hoped that every TUT student would realize their personal value through boundless exploration and challenges, thereby shouldering the responsibility of youth.
Liu Dongzhi, secretary of the university Party committee, extended warm congratulations on behalf of the university leadership to the honored individuals and collectives. He emphasized that the university's development relies not only on the efforts of faculty and students but also on the inspiration provided by role models. He expressed three earnest expectations for TUT students:
First, to cultivate high ideals and strengthen your commitment to serving the nation through diligent and practical actions. The love for our country and aspirations for national development will be converted into tangible contributions that align with the national rejuvenation.
Second, to carry forward the TUT spirit and unlock your potential. You should forge a strong will power and master essential skills so as to embrace challenges with determination and make meaningful achievements in the new era.
Third, to adhere to upholding integrity and innovation and embark on a new chapter in the future. You should seek breakthroughs while persevering and never forget the fundamentals while innovating. Constantly absorb new knowledge, master new skills and adapt to new changes while keeping pace with the times. Always take the lead in the construction of a socialist modernized strong country and exploit our own blazing chapter.
"As students from TUT, we should take virtue and ability as the foundation, and practice and innovation as the norm! As students from TUT, we should draw grand blueprints and continuethe glory of TUT!" The ceremony drew to a close with a recitation by student representatives.
This event was designed to implement the guiding principles of the third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the National Education Conference, and the Tianjin Education Conference. It sought to fulfill the fundamental tasks of moral and intellectual education and solidly promote the implementation of the requirements for the construction year of the university's teaching and learning atmosphere. Carrying forward the academic atmosphere of "Diligent Study, Critical Thinking; Broad Observation, and Selective Adoption", the indomitable enterprising spirits of TUT's students was perfectly demonstrated.
