On September 22, the "Tianjin University of Technology Cup" Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (2025) Finals and the Launch Ceremony for the "Tianjin University of Technology Cup" Competition (2026) were successfully held at the University Student Activity Center Theater. TUT President Lian Jijian, together with Xu Rui, Chen Shengyong, Ye Ning, Wang Tie, Feng Hua and Su Ronghua attended the event, which saw a total of over 1,000 participants ranging from principal officials of relevant departments, colleges, and research institutes, as well as faculty and student representatives.

At the outset of the event, Lian Jijian, Party Secretary and President of the university, extended congratulations to the participating teams and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all faculty members. He emphasized that the "Tianjin University of Technology Cup" Competition serves not only as an arena where "youth" and "technology" collide, but also as an accelerator for both faculty and students to "pursue dreams" and "realize aspirations." Each year, it nurtures over a thousand projects, with numerous outstanding ones advancing from the TUT Cup to higher stages. He then put forward three expectations for all students: First, to actively engage in practical endeavors by participating in initiatives like the Micro-Program in Truth-Seeking and Innovation, the National Innovation Competition, and the Challenge Cup. With practice you will both strengthen convictions and build character. Second, to maintain unwavering focus. You should conduct repeated deliberation, experiments and verifications in face of academic challenges. Please embrace pure dedication and adhere to a "long-term perspective" before you finally realize your dreams. Third, to foster the spirits of unity and collaboration. When you deal with complex scientific problems, the "scientific barriers" are removed through cooperation and the "inclusive mindsets" are cultivated through mutual support. Finally, I urge all students to uphold the university motto of "Emphasizing Virtue and Competence, Pursuing Truth and Innovation," practice the Tianjin University of Technology character of "Standing on Virtue, Aspiring to Competence, Achieving through Practice, and Thriving through Innovation," so as to grow into innovative talents with a sense of national responsibility, professional expertise, and a commitment to the era.

The seven teams competing in the championship focused on addressing industry pain points in low-altitude economy, artificial intelligence, and ecological environment sectors. They delivered compelling presentations covering project overviews, technological products, market analysis and business models. Judges engaged with the teams, discussing aspects such as product and service offerings, as well as sustainable development capabilities. After intense competition, the gold awards were presented to two teams: one was from the School of Materials Science and Engineering and the project was entitled Crystal Engineering: Pioneering Domestic Lanthanum Bromide Crystal Synthesis; the other gold winner was from the School of Marxism with the project entitled Practical Ideological Education Pioneers: Strategies for Enhancing Ideological Course Quality via CIPP Model-Based Practical Teaching. Silver medals were awarded to two teams from the School of Computer Science and Engineering and the School of Mechanical Engineering. The former's project was entitled Aviation Cable Intelligence—A Quality Assessment System for Civil Aircraft Cable Laying Based on 3D Scanning Reconstruction Technology and the latter's project was named Smart Speed—Creator of High-Speed Low-Vibration Sorting Robots. The three bronze medalists were teams from the School of Environmental Science and Safety Engineering, the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Engineering College and the School of Management. Their projects were Jade Purifier Cube—Next Generation Leader of  Wastewater Denitrification and Carbon Removal Technology, Breaking Communication Boundaries—Intelligent Two-Way Sign Language Translation System, and Dream Boat in Harmony—Research on an Integrated Urban Safety Governance System Based on Novel Foldable Backpack Airbag Boats respectively. These achievements highlight the fact that the daring youth of Tianjin University of Technology aspire to dedicate technical innovations to national development and empower the progress of new productive forces.

University leaders presented certificates to the winning projects and outstanding organizing units of this year's "Tianjin University of Technology Cup" competition, encouraging everyone to build on their achievements and strive for further success.

At the conclusion of the event, university leaders and heads of relevant departments jointly launched the "Tianjin University of Technology Cup" Competition (2026), extending their best wishes for an even more spectacular next edition, which brought the atmosphere to a climax.

The event featured a distinct theme, vibrant atmosphere, and fierce competition. It not only showcased the fruitful achievements of Tianjin University of Technology in terms of its distinctive innovation and entrepreneurship education but also highlighted the scientific and technological passion and capabilities of students in Tianjin University of Technology. It fully demonstrated the creativity and infectious spirit of students in scientific and technological innovation, marking a significant milestone for the Class of 2025 as they embark on their university journey.

It is reported that a total of nearly 10,000 faculties and students with 1,012 projects actively participated in the "Tianjin University of Technology Cup" Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (2025). During the competition, over 100 innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities were held in the "one-stop" student community and relevant functional areas of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, delivering a series of outstanding projects that achieved remarkable results in various national competitions.

Next, efforts will be made to leverage the doubling effects of integration of education, technology and talents in accordance with TUT's distinctive educational system of innovation and entrepreneurship. The university will perfect a sound collaborative training mechanism for top-notch innovative and entrepreneurial talents and deepen the practice of learning, teaching, and innovation through competition in order to cultivate more creators and practitioners of new quality productive force.
