The Engineering Research Center for Learning-Based Intelligent Systems (LIS-ERC) was established in 2019. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, it is hosted by Tianjin University of Technology. The center leverages the university’s key and prioritized disciplines, including Computer Science and Technology, Cyberspace Security, and Management Science and Engineering.
It has set up a series of multi-functional R&D platforms, encompassing areas such as machine vision and intelligent video analysis, cyberspace security technology, robotics and intelligent equipment manufacturing, as well as smart construction and large-scale engineering project management.
With a focus on the core research direction of “Learning-Based Intelligent Systems” and firmly rooted in the international frontiers of the field, the center conducts in-depth theoretical research and strives for technological breakthroughs in key domains. These domains include intelligent machine vision, robotic intelligent equipment, video surveillance and security, big data processing, and smart construction simulation.
To date, the center has undertaken over a hundred projects, spanning National Key R&D Programs of China, National Natural Science Foundation projects, and major provincial/ministerial-level initiatives. It has achieved a range of influential technological innovations and patented technologies, effectively promoting the profound integration and application of artificial intelligence technology in industrial advancement and regional economic development.
