Tianjin Intelligent Manufacturing and Smart Safety Technology Innovation Think Tank (hereinafter referred to as "the Think Tank), previously known as the Smart Safety and Innovation Management Research Center (a research institution of Tianjin University of Technology), was approved as a Tianjin Municipal Technology Innovation Think Tank in 2021, selected into the Think Tank Association of Tianjin Federation of Social Sciences in 2023, accredited as a Core Technology Think Tank of Tianjin Association for Science and Technology in 2024, and included in the AMI Think Tank in 2025. Centering on the major development strategies of the country and Tianjin Municipality, and aligning with Tianjin’s "Ten Actions" Plan for High-Quality Development, the Think Tank focuses on the theme of intelligent manufacturing and smart security. It comprehensively applies emerging technologies such as intelligent terminals, big data, and artificial intelligence to conduct systematic research on key issues in the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry, including digital and intelligent transformation and sustainable development, industry-education integration and collaborative innovation, as well as industrial security and risk management.

The Think Tank maintains in-depth cooperation with industrial organizations like the Robotics Industry Association. Guided by the principle of meeting practical needs and prioritizing academic research, it takes serving local areas as its core, pursues innovation-driven development, and regards providing policy advice as its fundamental mission. The Think Tank deeply integrates the unique features of the sub-national economy and industry strength, forming a distinctive research style featuring interdisciplinary integration, combination of theory and practice, and synergy between technology and management. The Think Tank will give full play to its role as a bridge, break down communication barriers, and serve the Tianjin Municipal Government and enterprises devoted to the intelligent manufacturing industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integrated development region. Moreover, it will fully implement the overall national security concept to further promote the transformation of "Made in Tianjin" to "Intelligent Manufacturing in Tianjin".
