The Tianjin University of Technology Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Science Popularization Base leverages on high-quality teaching and research platforms of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering including the National Engineering Practice Education Center, the Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Basic Chemistry in Tianjin, the Tianjin Key Laboratory of Organic Solar Cells and Photochemical Conversion, the Tianjin Key Laboratory of Life and Health Detection, and the Tianjin International Cooperation Research Center. It also leverages characteristic discipline clusters in the medical, pharmaceutical, and life health industries, as well as 15 research teams focusing on areas like green synthesis and asymmetric catalysis, and research and development of organic functional materials. With the mission of "popularizing chemical engineering knowledge and enhancing public scientific literacy", the base has established a popular science working team and a popular science lecture team primarily composed of university teachers and college students. Currently, the base's laboratories and research equipment serve over 2,500 faculty and students of the university annually. This includes 29 pieces of equipment valued at over 200,000 yuan. Some laboratories and instruments are actively shared with external parties while prioritizing the teaching and research testing needs of the university itself. In recent years, through a combination of "inviting visitors to campus" and "outreach visits", the base has carried out a series of science popularization activities in regions such as Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong, focusing on themes including traditional Chinese medicine culture, chemical science, biomedicine, and ecological security. These efforts have included over 50 lectures totaling more than 300 hours, benefiting over 2,000 people.
