As a certified municipal base in Tianjin, Tianjin University of Technology Engineering Training Science Popularization Base specializes in scientific research and education. Since its establishment in 2022, the base has leveraged the university’s robust disciplinary and research capabilities to actively integrate internal and external resources, aiming to build a distinctive and fully functional modern science education platform.

The base has established a professional and efficient “Engineering Training Science Popularization Volunteer Team” at Tianjin University of Technology, consistently committed to the mission of disseminating knowledge in natural and social sciences, promoting the application of scientific technology, advocating scientific methods, spreading scientific ideas, and fostering the spirit of science. The university fully empowers the Engineering Training Center, a municipal-level experimental teaching demonstration center, as the primary platform, to integrate its disciplinary strengths in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, smart ocean technology, and computer science effectively.

Currently, the base has established a comprehensive quad-core training zone aiming to integrate the knowledge, training, technology and management together, focusing on discovering students’ engineering cognition and organizing practical training, teaching courses with intelligent manufacturing and advanced equipment, displaying technological innovation achievements, and a smart management center. Adhering to the principle of “integrating learning with practice and unifying knowledge with action”, the base offers a wide range of engineering training science popularization services and experiential activities to university students, middle and high school students, and professionals from various sectors. By 2025, the base has hosted a cumulative total of 43,063 visitors.

Looking ahead, the base will closely align with national strategies for technological innovation and the development needs of science popularization. Based on cutting-edge core intelligent technology, such as big data, cloud computing, intelligent control, and digital twins, the base plans to develop and construct multiple immersive and interactive science popularization projects, including intelligent robot design, smart workshop scenario simulation, and introductory analysis of intelligent industrial technology. The base will continue to deeply explore its core advantages in engineering practice education, intelligent manufacturing technology demonstration, and frontier technological innovation, constantly expanding its service scope. It aims to provide a superior platform and support for the equitable sharing of high-end intelligent technology science popularization resources, inspiring scientific interest among youth, and cultivating innovative talents.
