

The 2025 Athletics Games of Tianjin University of Technology (TUT) opened at the university sports ground on April 23. The university’s senior leadership, including Liu Dongzhi, Lian Jijian, Xu Rui, Chen Shengyong, Wang Tie, Feng Hua, and Su Ronghua, attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Ye Ning, the Vice President and Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee. Members of the organizing committee and heads of various departments were seated on the rostrum.


Amidst majestic and resonant music, students and faculty contingents from 20 departments marched past the rostrum. Dressed in uniforms and chanting spirited slogans, they moved in perfect step with energetic strides, showcasing a competitive and determined spirit that drew resounding cheers from the audience.

In his address, Lian Jijian, President and Deputy Party Secretary of the University, expressed sincere gratitude to all athletes, referees, and staff. He emphasized the university’s strong commitment to physical education, highlighting ongoing reforms in teaching, innovative sports programs, and improved athletic facilities.
President Lian noted that TUT students have achieved remarkable success in national and international competitions, demonstrating the vibrant spirit of the university. He called on all students and faculty to embrace healthy lifestyles, stay active on sports grounds, and carry the sportsmanship from the games into their daily studies, work, and the university’s “Double First-Class” initiative, advancing institutional excellence and contributing to China’s education advancement.

Party Secretary Liu Dongzhi officially declared the opening.



The mass performance featured a hundred-member Tai Chi fan formation that blended strength and grace. A sea of red fans swirled like rising flames, while white outfits flowed like a sweeping galaxy. A sports dance segment followed, impressing with precise movements, rhythmic accuracy, and elegant yet energetic style, beautifully merging power and artistry. The captivating long-fan dance, with its fluid and graceful motions, reflected the charm of traditional Chinese virtue.

Following this, the university administrators stepped onto the track and led the students and faculty in a brisk walk.




On the field, athletes competed with fearless determination. Off the field, cheer squads maintained relentless energy, while officials ensured fair judgment. Support staff and volunteers fulfilled their duties with dedication and warm service. The excitement extended online, with campus communities rallying behind athletes through the university’s official Douyin platform. Meanwhile, selections for the Sportsmanship Award proceeded in full swing.

With the collective efforts of all participants, the 2025 TUT Athletics Games concluded.
